Business owners juggling two phones for two WhatsApp numbers can stop soon. WhatsApp is rolling out multi-account support for WhatsApp Business on Android this month by closing a gap that has existed for three years.
It is currently reaching a limited group of beta testers, with a wider rollout expected over the coming weeks. Until now, only the standard WhatsApp Messenger app allowed people to manage two accounts on one device.
That option arrived in 2023, WhatsApp Business users were left without it, forcing many to carry a second phone, use separate apps, or mix personal and business numbers on the same account.
WhatsApp Messenger and WhatsApp Business run on the same messaging infrastructure, but new features often reach one app long before the other. Multi-account support is one of the strongest examples of that gap, since business users arguably needed the tool more than personal ones.
The update means brands, freelancers, and companies running separate departments can finally manage two numbers from a single device without workarounds.
To switch between them, open the Chats tab, tap the menu, and select “Switch accounts.” The change is instant, and a small indicator shows new activity on the inactive account, although messages remain hidden until you switch over.
Only two accounts are supported per device, a third cannot be added. WhatsApp has not confirmed a release date for the stable version, but features typically move from beta to general availability within a few months. That timeline suggests most Android users could have access before the end of 2026.
An iOS version has not been announced, WhatsApp has historically brought major features to both platforms within a similar window, so an iPhone rollout is likely to follow.
