Punjab has decided to introduce satellite internet as part of its plan to improve digital connectivity across the province.
Anusha Rahman, a PML-N leader and senior adviser to the Chief Minister, shared this decision while speaking at a leadership summit held at a private university in Lahore.
The summit focused on blockchain technology and digital assets, where participants also discussed how new technologies can shape Pakistan’s digital future.
Rahman said the government is working to provide high-speed internet in areas that still lack proper access. She explained that satellite internet will help connect villages, schools, colleges, and hospitals across the province.
She added that although people are interested in using digital technology, many regions still do not have basic internet services.
Rahman said the government is starting a “Connect the Unconnected” mission to solve this issue. She also mentioned that work is already underway through the provincial IT Department on modern connectivity projects.
She further said that the government plans to link 6 million young people with modern technology over the next four years.
