Pakistan’s National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has approved a Rs2.37-per-unit increase under the September fuel price adjustment, according to a report published November 7, 2026. The adjustment is expected to appear in November electricity bills and reportedly also applies to K-Electric consumers.
Why is the tariff changing?
Monthly fuel price adjustments account for differences between projected and actual electricity generation costs. The Central Power Purchasing Agency had requested a Rs2.56-per-unit increase for September, but the regulator approved Rs2.37 per unit, according to Geo News.
What does this mean for bills?
For illustration, an extra Rs2.37 per unit would add approximately Rs237 for 100 units or Rs474 for 200 units if the adjustment applies to all those units. These are simple examples, not final bill estimates: exemptions, taxes, billing rules and other charges may affect the amount a consumer actually pays.
Separate decision for industrial and agricultural consumers
Nepra also reportedly approved raising the concessional tariff for additional electricity consumption under a separate industrial and agricultural package by Rs2.32 per unit, from Rs22.98 to Rs25.30. This is a different measure from the general monthly fuel price adjustment.
The decision was reportedly reached through the Nepra chairman’s casting vote. Members Amna Ahmed and Maqsood Anwar Khan submitted dissenting notes questioning the proposed concessional rate.
What consumers should check
Consumers should review the fuel price adjustment line on their November bills and consult the relevant utility or Nepra notice for eligibility, exemptions and the exact calculation. The announced per-unit change should not be confused with an across-the-board increase in every tariff component.
