Kishan ruled out of third T20I

India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has been ruled out of the third Twenty20 international against New Zealand as he continues his recovery from an injury, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said on Monday.

The 28-year-old sustained a low-grade right adductor strain during the opening match of the five-game series and is recovering well, but has yet to regain match fitness.

“The BCCI Medical Team continues to monitor his progress,” the board said in an update.

Uncapped wicketkeeper-batter Kumar Kushagra, who is part of India’s A squad touring New Zealand, joined the T20I squad as cover ahead of the second match and will remain with the team for Tuesday’s fixture in Wellington.

Teenage batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi occupied the number three position in the second T20I, helping India secure a second successive four-wicket victory and take a 2-0 lead in the series.

The third match will be played in Wellington on October 27, followed by the fourth in Auckland on October 30 and the series finale in Hamilton on November 1.
