SBP crush Ghani by an innings and 18 runs as President’s Trophy Grade-1 third round matches conclude
KARACHI: Fast bowler Mohammad Ilyas took 11 wickets in the match as Kingsmen Academy whipped Pakistan Television by ten wickets in their third round match of the President’s Trophy Grade-1 at the Diamond Club Ground in Islamabad.
On the fourth and final day of the third round on Sunday, having conceded a 213-run first innings lead, PTV were folded for 299 in their second innings to set an 87-run target for Kingsmen Academy which they achieved without losing a wicket.
Mohammad Tayyab Arif (44*) and Mohammad Huraira (40*) remained not out.
Earlier, Mohammad Ilyas bowled extremely well to fold PTV for only 299 in their second innings. Ilyas, who had taken 5-129 in the first innings, grabbed 6-57 in the second innings to finish with excellent match figures of 11-186.
For PTV, Mohammad Taha top-scored 69 which came off 94 balls and had 13 fours.
Sharoon Siraj scored 61 off 125 balls, hitting eight fours while Amad Butt made 39 off 97 balls with six fours.
PTV had scored 355 in their first innings while in response Kingsmen Academy had made 568-8 declared.
Meanwhile at the National Ground in Islamabad State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) demolished Ghani by an innings and 18 runs.
Having conceded a huge 316 runs lead Ghani were folded for 298 in their second innings. Mohsin Riaz top-scored 117, which came off 148 balls. Mohsin, who was batting on 69 at close of the third day’s play, hammered 19 fours and two sixes in his 148-ball knock.
Ali Razzaq made 49 off110 deliveries, clobbering eight fours and a six. Sirajuddin picked up 3-83, for a 5-136 match figures. Kashif Bhatti claimed 3-21 while Mubashir Khan captured 2-59.
Ghani had scored 322 in their first innings while in response SBP declared it at 638-5.
At the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium the match between KRL and OGDCL ended in a draw. After being forced to follow-on OGDCL were bowled out for 275 in their second innings to set a 95-run target for their oppositions who reached 11-1 in the remaining three overs when the fourth and final day’s play ended.
Waqar Ahmed scored an 86-ball 60 with nine fours while Rohail Nazir made 72 off 116 balls, clobbering six fours and a six. Pakistan’s star batsman and skipper Babar Azam, who had scored 12 runs in the first innings, made four in the second innings.
Arshad Iqbal got 3-43 while Mohammad Faiq, Faheem Ashraf and Iftikhar Ahmed claimed two wickets each.
KRL scored 398 in their first innings while OGDCL made 217 in their first innings.
At the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium in Peshawar SNGPL held MIT Solutions to a draw.
Set to chase 394, SNGPL reached 163-1 at close of the match with Azan Awais scoring unbeaten 81.
The left-handed batsman hammered 11 fours and one six in his 154-ball knock. He added 163 for the opening stand with Sameer Minhas who chipped in with a solid 75 which came off 146 balls and had 12 fours.
Earlier, having gained a huge lead of 201 MIT Solutions began their second innings at 33-1 and declared it at 192 to set a huge target for their opponents. Salman Khan Junior scored 52 while Khalid Usman made 35 not out. Mohammad Azab and Mohammad Imran took two wickets each.
MIT Solutions had piled up 434-9 declared in their first innings while, in response, SNGPL had folded for 233.
SBP lead points table with 49 points at the end of the third round while they are followed by Kingsmen Academy with 42 points and OGDCL with 39.
