Montreal led the San Jose Sharks 3-1 after two periods on October 20, 2026, but lost 4-3 in overtime. The official NHL game report shows how the Sharks overturned that advantage.

Third-period comeback

Michael Misa reduced the deficit to 3-2 at 5:36 of the third period. Tyler Toffoli then equalised on the power play at 11:09.

Overtime penalty proved decisive

Montreal goaltender Jakub Dobes received an interference penalty. Macklin Celebrini scored the winning power-play goal at 2:13 of overtime, his second goal of the game.

What Montreal can learn

Nick Suzuki, Juraj Slafkovsky and Cole Caufield had all scored, but the Canadiens could not protect their two-goal lead. San Jose’s late pressure and special-teams execution changed the result.
