Three Toronto police officers arrested while vacationing in Barcelona are facing charges after a sex worker was allegedly hurt and sexually assaulted.
A spokesperson for the Mossos d’Esquadra, the police force of Catalonia, Spain, provided those details in a translated statement to Global News Monday afternoon, adding the incident reportedly unfolded in a taxi last week.

They said three men were arrested on May 15.
A Toronto police spokesperson confirmed the arrests in a separate statement earlier Monday, but did not detail the allegations against the officers, who were off duty and vacationing at the time.
“The allegations are serious. On arrival in Canada, one officer was suspended from duty as authorized by the Chief of Police in accordance with the Community Safety and Policing Act,” they wrote in an email.
“The two other officers will also be suspended upon their return to Canada in the coming days.”
A spokesperson for the Toronto Police Association said the union would not be commenting given the allegations relate to an off-duty incident.
