Her fourth straight triumph further solidifies her dominance in global music industry
Taylor Swift has been officially named the 2025 Global Artist of the Year by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), marking her fourth consecutive win and sixth overall — an achievement that further solidifies her dominance in the global music industry.
The award recognizes worldwide performance across streaming, digital downloads, and physical album sales, evaluating an artist’s entire catalog over the calendar year. According to IFPI, Swift once again emerged as the world’s biggest-selling artist, a milestone attributed to both consistent creative output and strong international release strategies.
Her latest project, The Life Of A Showgirl, generated significant global engagement across multiple formats. The album’s success was amplified by the tour documentary The End of an Era, which helped sustain fan interest and expand her reach across key markets.
Beyond Swift’s historic achievement, the IFPI Global Artist Chart reflected continued global competition. Stray Kids secured the No. 2 position — its highest ranking yet — while Bad Bunny placed at No. 5, marking his sixth consecutive year on the chart. Artists including Drake, Seventeen, The Weeknd, and Eminem have also maintained five-year streaks on the ranking.
Elsewhere, Tyler, The Creator debuted at No. 12, while Mrs. Green Apple entered at No. 13 following strong anniversary album sales. Lady Gaga returned to the chart for the first time since 2020, joined by re-entries from Ed Sheeran, SZA, and Justin Bieber.
IFPI CEO Victoria Oakley described Swift’s sixth win as a “truly historic achievement,” highlighting the coordinated global marketing efforts and long-term artist development that continue to drive international music success.
