A lacking surfer, who was alone at sea for greater than 30 hours, was rescued Friday after a large-scale search involving a number of native and federal companies.
The surfer, a 68-year-old man, entered the water close to Surfer’s Seaside in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, at round midday on Thursday. His Airbnb host reported him lacking on Friday night after he didn’t return to the rental property, based on the U.S. Coast Guard.
Footage of the rescue reveals the Coast Guard airlifting the stranded surfer, who was discovered alone on a reef, to security.
He was stranded in an space inaccessible by foot, the Coast Guard stated.
Audio from a telephone name between rescue companies and the person’s daughter reveals the second his household had been knowledgeable he had been discovered alive and effectively.
“What I’ve for you is nice information. We situated your dad…he’s alive and effectively,” Deputy Commander Rob Stiles says.

“Thanks a lot, thanks a lot, thanks a lot!” his daughter responded.
“The aircrew performed a flawless hoist operation and safely recovered the person aboard the plane regardless of troublesome nighttime circumstances and low visibility,” the Coast Guard stated.
The Coast Guard labored with the Puerto Rico Police Division, U.S. Border Patrol, a Puerto Rican maritime unit and native emergency responders to find the surfer, with Stiles commending the crew effort and labelling the profitable rescue a “terrific consequence.”
“It was actually a crew effort and I admire the responsiveness and professionalism of Coast Guard Air Station Borinquen, the Sector San Juan Command Heart and our native emergency responders. This case may have simply had a distinct consequence,” he added.
“We urge all mariners and anybody coming into the water to have a plan, talk your intentions with somebody and put on all correct life-saving gear.”
