    SHARJAH:

    The Sharjah Pageant of African Literature (SFAL) will likely be held from 14th to 18th January at College Metropolis in Sharjah, below the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

    Organised by the Sharjah Ebook Authority (SBA) below the directives of Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of SBA, the competition goals to strengthen cultural change between the Arab world and Africa by literature, highlighting African writing as one of many world’s most influential literary traditions.

    This 12 months’s competition builds on the success of its inaugural version, which attracted greater than 10,000 guests. The programme will deal with themes reminiscent of social transformation and collective reminiscence, providing audiences perception into the range and mental depth of African narratives.

    “SFAL displays the worldwide cultural position Sharjah has earned as an inclusive worldwide hub that views literature as a shared human house past borders and classifications,” Sheikha Bodour mentioned.

    She added that this position, which the emirate upholds with accountability and long-term dedication, is turning into more and more central to the course of world literature. It strengthens cultural variety, enriches native literary apply by world change, helps translation, expands the worldwide presence of writers and publishers, and affirms literature as an important drive in shaping world consciousness.

    Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, CEO of SBA, mentioned that the competition gives a particular platform to discover African literary experiences, interact with them critically, assist translation and publishing, and generate information that displays the depth and affect of this literature.

    The competition goals to deepen the presence of African literature throughout the Arab cultural panorama by fostering dialogue amongst writers, publishers, teachers and audiences, with the objective of constructing lasting mental and cultural ties.

    The programme will embrace panel discussions on literature, id and reminiscence, workshops for youngsters and younger individuals, creative and musical performances, African culinary experiences and an artwork exhibition. Particulars of taking part visitors, audio system and programme themes will likely be introduced at a later date.
