LAHORE:
Punjab has launched a climate-smart mechanisation programme backed by the Asian Improvement Financial institution (ADB), providing subsidised farm equipment to chop manufacturing prices and lift crop yields. The initiative, titled *Reworking Punjab’s Agriculture via Local weather Sensible Mechanisation, was inaugurated on Friday by Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture Usama Khan Laghari.
Below the programme, Rs36.12 billion might be spent on mechanised cultivation and harvesting of wheat and rice, with farmers eligible for a 30% subsidy on agricultural equipment. Officers stated the scheme goals to enhance productiveness whereas selling climate-resilient farming practices throughout the province.
Laghari stated the provincial authorities had spent Rs66 billion over the previous two years on mechanisation initiatives, which he stated have been anticipated to extend output and considerably cut back farmers’ value of manufacturing.
Secretary Agriculture Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahoo stated the programme additionally contains the institution of a devoted coaching institute for equipment operators and mechanics.
ADB Nation Director Xiaoqin Emma Fan assured full cooperation for selling climate-resilient agriculture in Punjab and counseled province’s reforms.
