Unions representing Ontario public sector employees are holding a rally Thursday outdoors of Queen’s Park to protest the province’s return-to-office mandate.
The province introduced its resolution in August to maneuver away from distant and hybrid work, requiring workers to work in-office 5 days every week by Jan. 5, 2026.

Labour union AMAPCEO says over 13,000 Ontarians have signed a petition launched after the province’s announcement calling on the federal government to reverse its return-to-work resolution.
The union representing public servants says in its petition that distant work affords improved work/life stability, diminished site visitors congestion and financial savings to taxpayers.
Premier Doug Ford beforehand mentioned he believes in-person work is healthier for productiveness and that downtown companies are affected by a lack of foot site visitors.
Authorities workers turned to distant work through the COVID-19 pandemic, with greater than half already required to be in workplace full-time.
