Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya is going through potential authorized motion after celebrating India’s T20 World Cup victory along with his good friend Mahieka Sharma, wrapping the nationwide flag round himself within the stadium.
In accordance with stories in Indian media, advocate Wajid Khan has filed a petition requesting the registration of an FIR towards Pandya. The petition claims that by draping the tricolor over his physique and celebrating in public, Hardik Pandya dedicated an act deemed “obscene” and violated the respect as a result of nationwide flag.
Khan argued that the cricketer’s actions contravened related legal guidelines and urged the Pune police to provoke proceedings. He emphasised that each citizen is chargeable for upholding the dignity of the nationwide flag.

The advocate cited Part 2 of the Nationwide Flag Act, 1971, which mandates the safety of the flag’s sanctity. The petition has reportedly been accepted by the authorities, and additional motion is awaited.
The incident occurred instantly after India defeated New Zealand within the T20 World Cup ultimate, when Pandya celebrated on the bottom alongside Mahieka Sharma. The act, captured on digital camera, shortly went viral, drawing criticism from sure quarters over perceived disrespect to the nationwide flag.
Authorities have but to substantiate whether or not an FIR has been formally registered or what authorized penalties Pandya could face.
