Federal Minister for Nationwide Meals Safety and Analysis Rana Tanveer Hussain has reiterated that compliance with sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) laws is a cardinal precept of worldwide commerce in agro-products.
“These guidelines should not a formality; they’re the lifeline of our export system, safeguarding meals security, public well being and the biosecurity of ecosystems,” the minister emphasised in a press release launched on Wednesday.
Responding to directives, the Division of Plant Safety (DPP), which works underneath the Ministry of Nationwide Meals Safety, has taken initiatives throughout rice, maize, citrus and mango sectors to make sure compliance with SPS requirements.
Through the present mango season, a number of reforms have been launched, together with the posting of employees at exit factors, engagement of reputed pre-shipment inspection (PSI) corporations, set up of CCTV cameras, back-end monitoring, obligatory punching of auto numbers on phytosanitary certificates, photographic proof of employees with consignments and reshuffling of employees to get rid of malpractices.
