Pakistan’s Khawaja Muhammad Zubair has claimed the Tekken 8 crown at the Esports World Cup 2026, defeating South Korea’s LowHigh in a dominant 5-0 victory in the grand final in Paris.
The Tekken 8 competition was held from 5 to 8 August, with 32 players competing for a share of the prize pool. Zubair finished the tournament as champion, earning $300,000 in prize money and 1,000 Club Championship points.
Zubair defeated LowHigh, one of the established names in the international Tekken scene, in a dominant grand-final performance. The Pakistani player did not drop a single game in the deciding match, completing a 5–0 victory to secure the biggest title of his career.
His triumph was particularly remarkable given his relatively limited experience on the international stage.
According to the Esports World Cup, Zubair made his international debut just two months before the tournament, when he was eliminated in the pools. He returned to Paris for the Last Chance Qualifier, where he fought his way back into contention before going on to claim the Tekken 8 title.
He subsequently battled through the EWC qualification route before defeating several high-profile opponents during his title-winning campaign. His run included a crucial victory over fellow Pakistani star Arslan Ash, while Australia’s Yagami finished third and Ash placed fourth.
Zubair topped the final standings ahead of South Korea’s LowHigh, with Yagami in third and Arslan Ash fourth. LowHigh received $130,000 in prize money, while Yagami earned $70,000 and Arslan Ash took home $50,000.
Zubair’s achievement adds another significant chapter to Pakistan’s growing reputation in competitive Tekken. The country has established itself as a powerhouse in the fighting game, with players such as Arslan Ash and Atif Butt already recognised internationally.
The victory is significant not only for the prize money but also for the manner in which Zubair reached the top. After securing his place in the EWC through the qualification route, the Pakistani player overcame experienced international opposition before producing a commanding performance against LowHigh in the final.
The official Tekken esports database lists the champion as Khawaja Muhammad Zubair, who competes under the name AG M. Zubair. His 2026 season record also includes participation in the Tekken World Tour, further strengthening his credentials on the international competitive scene.
