RAWALPINDI: General Syed Aamer Raza was presented a guard of honor upon assuming command as Commander National Strategic Command (CNSC), Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said on Monday.
According to the ISPR, the newly appointed commander laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and offered Fateha to pay tribute to Pakistan’s fallen soldiers.
Later, General Aamer Raza called on Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
Field Marshal Asim Munir congratulated General Aamer Raza on assuming command and extended his best wishes for his new responsibilities, the ISPR statement said.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has appointed General Aamer Raza as the Commander of the National Strategic Command after promoting him from Lieutenant General to the rank of four-star general, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.
General Aamer Raza was previously serving as the Chief of the General Staff (CGS) of the Pakistan Army before being elevated to the new position.
In a statement, the Prime Minister’s Office said that the premier congratulated General Raza on his promotion and appointment, wishing him success in undertaking the responsibilities of the key assignment.
The position of Commander National Strategic Command was created after the passage of the Pakistan Army, Air Force and Navy (Amendment) Bills 2025, which introduced changes to the country’s senior military command structure.
Under the same legislation, Field Marshal Asim Munir was appointed as the Chief of Defense Forces.
The new command structure was introduced following the abolition of the office of the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), with General Shamshad Mirza serving as the last officer to hold the position.
