Evacuation order issued for space close to Large Bar Lake resulting from aggressive wildfire


An evacuation order has been issued for an space within the southern Cariboo area of B.C. resulting from a wildfire burning within the area.

The Thompson Nicola Regional District says the Fiftynine Creek wildfire close to Large Bar Lake is quickly escalating and the present evacuation alert is being upgraded to an order.

This order is in impact for about 107 addressed properties in Electoral Space “E” (Bonaparte Plateau).

Impacted areas are:

  • All properties round Large Bar Lake, together with the campground at Big Bar Lake Park; and
  • Close by properties southeast of Large Bar Lake, as outlined on the map.

The regional district says there’s a danger that Large Bar Street, which is a gravel highway, could also be impacted by the hearth, so there’s a have to improve the evacuation alert.
