Energy payments to rise by over Rs1.50 per unit in April

ISLAMABAD: Electrical energy shoppers may see greater energy payments as early as April after utilities requested the nation’s vitality regulator Monday to approve an extra cost of Rs1.64 per unit.

The cost is supposed to recuperate gas prices that ran considerably above what prospects had been billed in February 2026, The Information reported.

The Central Energy Buying Company (CPPA-G), performing on behalf of ex-Wapda distribution corporations, filed the request with the Nationwide Electrical Energy Regulatory Authority (Nepra).

In its request, the CPPA-G cited a niche between the reference gas value of Rs6.73 per unit constructed into February payments and the precise value of Rs8.37 per unit, a shortfall of almost 25%.

The surcharge, if accepted, would apply to Okay-Electrical shoppers as properly.

Whole energy technology in February reached 7,696 gigawatt-hours (GWh) at a value of Rs62.75 billion, or roughly Rs8.15 per unit.
