Nintendo has announced its next Indie World Showcase, marking the first since the release of Hollow Knight: Silksong, the game that was the event’s biggest draw for the longest time.
Hollow Knight: Silksong had a long wait between its reveal and release. This led to a recurring joke about the fanbase being left disappointed after every major gaming event, with no news about Hollow Knight: Silksong. Nintendo Indie World Showcases were hit the hardest by this, as fans assumed that would be the platform for news about the game.
A Glimpse Into The Terrifying, Impressive World Of Silksong Speedrunning
As most of us are still struggling with Silksong’s punishing difficulty, some people are beating it in under 90 minutes.
The official Nintendo YouTube channel has a link to the next Indie World Showcase, scheduled for March 3, 2026, at 6:00 AM PT/9:00 AM PT, and expected to run for around 15 minutes. This will be the first Indie World Showcase since the release of Hollow Knight: Silksong, as the last one happened in August 2025, with Silksong launching in September.
Nintendo’s Next Indie World Showcase Has Lost Its Biggest Draw
The excitement for the new Indie World Showcase has been diminished by the lack of any big potential games, which is why Hollow Knight: Silksong was such a big deal for these events. Sure, there is DLC for Hollow Knight: Silksong on the way, but the enthusiasm for it is nowhere near as strong as for the full game.
There aren’t that many indie games that aren’t on the Switch or Switch 2 that will get fans to tune in. Megabonk is one game that Nintendo fans are waiting for, and a release date for Vampire Crawlers could be a good closer, but there’s not much else, considering the Switch & Switch 2 are big indie machines.

A release date for Deltatune Chapter 5 would be a huge deal, but comments from Toby Fox online suggest the game isn’t far enough into the final stages of production to put a concrete launch date on. Maybe a release window would be possible, but even that feels like it would be saved for a full Nintendo Direct.
The Nintendo Indie World Showcases generally lack the excitement of the partner or the regular Directs, but it’ll still be worth tuning into. If nothing else, it at least hints that a proper Direct is on the way, one that’s sorely needed.
