How to Get Auto Feeder in Fields of Mistria

If you’ve been around the block a few times already in Fields of Mistria, then you’ll know that feeding and tending to your livestock is among the most time-consuming daily routines, especially if you have multiple barns and coops. That’s a lot of laps to make around the farm, especially when you have other important, time-sensitive errands to get to. Even in the coziest of games, there’s always something to do.

Luckily, thanks to the game’s Fourth Major Update (0.15.0), relief is within reach thanks to the addition of the Auto Feeder tool. If you’re eager (like me) to get your hands on one or more of these for your homestead, here’s how to unlock the Auto Feeder in Fields of Mistria, along with how it works.

How to Unlock Auto Feeder in Fields of Mistria

To unlock the Auto Feeder in Fields of Mistria, there’s one main prerequisite you need to fulfill first, and that is your Ranching Level. More specifically, you need to reach Ranching Level 45. This is done by housing and tending to various types of livestock on your farm. Build barns and coops for them, feed and pet them daily, and gather any materials they provide in return (e.g. – Wool, Feathers, Milk). The more consistently you keep to these routines, the higher and quicker your Ranching Level will grow.

Once you’ve reached Level 45, head to Hayden’s shop and open the Farm Supplies section of his shop inventory. On the bottom shelf, you should see the Auto Feeder for sale, and there’s no limit to how many you can purchase. However, each one costs 5,000 x Tesserae, so make sure to budget for what you need.

You only need one Auto Feeder per Barn or Coop, and note that Auto Feeders can only be assigned to Large Barns or Large Coops. Those of a smaller size will not accommodate these tools.

How to Use Auto Feeder in Fields of Mistria

Once you have one or more Auto Feeders purchased, bring them back to your farm. As mentioned previously, they can only be placed inside Large Barns or Large Coops, as these have a special spot designated for these types of tools.

Go inside the Barn/Coop where you want to use the feeder, and look for what resembles a small pedestal near the storage chest where you normally keep animal feed (seen above). Place the Auto Feeder on that pedestal (make sure it’s positioned directly on top of it), and this will effectively “turn it on'”

Now, you need to place the animal feed (Hay or Grass Seed) into the Auto Feeder, and there are plenty of tile spaces for you to stock it up. Furthermore, you can also place any dishes, crops, or other forageables into the Auto Feeder, and it’ll convert them into the appropriate feed for the Barn/Coop.

Transition to the next day, return to the Barn/Coop, and you should see both troughs filled with feed. This “refresh” of feed happens once a day, each morning.

When those Spring rainstorms hit for days on end, and your animals are cooped up until the skies clear, they’ll be as thankful as you to have food whenever they need it.
