In a significant strategic advancement, Google and Southeast Asian technology conglomerate Sea Ltd. have formalized a partnership aimed at integrating next-generation artificial intelligence solutions across Sea’s digital ecosystem.
Announced on Thursday, February 19, 2026, the collaboration will focus on developing sophisticated AI-powered tools for Sea’s e-commerce and gaming platforms.
As part of the agreement, both companies will jointly explore the development of an “AI agentic shopping prototype” on Sea’s flagship e-commerce platform, Shopee.
The initiative underscores a broader industry shift towards monetising advanced AI models capable of executing complex, multi-step tasks from seamless cross-platform shopping to workflow optimization.
According to a report by Momentum WorksShopee maintained its dominance in Southeast Asia’s e-commerce landscape in 2024, securing nearly 52% market share.
The move also comes amid intensifying regional competition, with Chinese tech giants Alibaba recently unveiling a new AI model described as a milestone for the “agentic AI era.”
Beyond e-commerce, the partnership aims to harness AI to elevate productivity within Sea’s gaming division, Garenaby deploying intelligent systems designed to streamline and modernize game development processes.
The alliance further builds on Sea’s previous 2024 collaboration between Shopee and Alphabet-owned YouTubesignaling a deepening technological integration within Southeast Asia’s rapidly evolving digital economy.
