KARACHI:
Easel Art Gallery & Framing opened its group exhibition ‘Fishaar-e-Fun’ (Pressure of Art) in DHA, featuring works by renowned artists including Amir Khatri, Awais Ahmed, Behzad Ishaq, Hashim, Jameel Siddiqui (UK), Naeem Rind, and Umer Qureshi.
During the opening, artist Hashim shared details about his contribution. “I have been creating this series since 2004. It is called the Babylonian series, inspired by the pharaohs’ period, some 6,000 years ago. The focus is on the pharaohs’ wives I have conceived that type of face and painted it. This is my signature work; even if I don’t sign it, people recognize it as Hashim’s,” he said.
When asked about his technique, Hashim explained, “I use two mediums: oil and acrylic. I also do leafing, though I didn’t use it for these pieces. Very few artists combine water-based and oil-based mediums, but I have used both continuously.”
Chief guest Sultan Naqvi also shared his thoughts on the exhibition. “Painting is a visual medium. Its effect can last as long as we want. When it is well-executed and full of color, it brightens the environment. If you understand what the artist is trying to show, you will be satisfied. Painting, like music, communicates through its own language, and understanding it brings fulfillment,” he said.
The exhibition opened at 5pm on February 16 and will continue until February 19..
