The India Meteorological Division (IMD) on Wednesday predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over the following two days for Mumbai and the Konkan area of Maharashtra.
It issued an orange alert for the state capital and a pink alert for Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts within the Konkan area.
The Konkan area and ghat areas in Maharashtra will obtain heavy downpour resulting from a low-pressure formation within the Bay of Bengal, the Regional Meteorological Centre stated.
“Within the subsequent 24 hours, a low-pressure space is forming within the Bay of Bengal, and its impression can be seen within the Konkan area of Maharashtra,” RMC official Shubhangi Bhute stated.
Orange Alert
The climate division has issued the orange alert for Mumbai, Palghar, and Thane districts, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall at remoted locations on Thursday.
A yellow alert was issued for the three districts on Friday.
Purple alert
The IMD has sounded the pink alert for Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall at a couple of locations with extraordinarily heavy rainfall at remoted locations on Thursday.
The pink alert has been maintained for the three districts on Friday additionally.
The Met division has issued a pink alert for ghat areas of Satara, Pune and Kolhapur districts on Thursday, and the ghat areas of Satara and Pune on Friday.
IMD predicts heavy rain in south Bengal
The IMD on Wednesday forecast heavy rain in south Bengal from July 24 to twenty-eight owing to the probably formation of a low-pressure space over north Bay of Bengal.
Heavy rainfall can be more likely to happen in some sub-Himalayan districts from July 25 to twenty-eight, the IMD stated.
Districts together with North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Midnapore, Jhargram, Bankura, and Purulia are anticipated to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two locations.
Different south Bengal districts can also obtain remoted heavy showers throughout the interval.
Kolkata is more likely to see heavy rain on July 25, the IMD added.
